August has been a very busy month for the Popley Beat Team and other members of the PSNP. On the 14th I arrested 2 youths for a public order offence that occurred on Popley Way. As the youths were young and the offence was relatively minor I was able to issue one youth with a YRD (Youth Restorative Disposal) the other youth will write an apology letter. On the 15th I was patrolling Winklebury with the Winklebury Beat Manager PC Karen Binney and the other Beat Manager, for Popley, PC Chris Brindley. I spoke to a female who was displaying some unusual behaviour, a short while later I arrested her on suspicion of drugs offences and a public order offence. On Sunday the 21st I was patrolling along Melrose Walk with PC Binney. I spoke to a male who I had never seen before. The male informed me that he had come down from London for the weekend. I checked the male against the PNC (Police National Computer). Unfortunately for the male he was wanted by the MET on warrant and he was arrested. Sundays are normally very quite duties. As always we have been tackling drugs issues in Popley with some good success story’s. On the 24th of August I stop searched a male on Carpenters Down after his friend ran off from me. The male I searched had herbal cannabis ready to smoke. The male was eligible for a cannabis street warning. If he gets caught again with drugs he will be arrested. A few nights ago PC Brindley arrested two males in Popley West on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. On the 30th I crewed up with PCSO Porter to Patrol Oakridge and Popley. Whilst patrolling Priestley Road (Current PSNP problem area for drugs and ASB) I stop searched a male. Suspected drugs were located on the male so the male was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs. On the 31st I seized cannabis from a male in the War Memorial Park assisted by CSPO Alan Wilkinson who can smell cannabis a mile away! The male will receive a reprimand. I also issued a male with a YRD in Abbey Road for a criminal damage. In the evening I attended a summer streetz event with PC Karen Binney in Winklebury. I was thrashed on the bungee run by an overly athletic fireman: Bungee Video

In other news: I have reported a number of issues to the council via the “FixMyStreet” website. Issues include graffiti, fly tipping and general rubbish. The Popley PCSO’s Sarah Danks and Phil Rapley have been heavily involved with the ‘Summer Streetz’ program. Hopefully this would of broken down some barriers with the youth of Popley. I have crewed up with CSPO (Community Safety Patrolling Officer) Paul Bowman on a number of occasions and when we crew up something interesting always happens! Paul is also a cycle officer. In July/August PC Tony Harris joined me for a beat attachment. I hope he enjoyed seeing a different side to Policing. The PSNP will meet at the beginning of October to vote in three more priorities.
